Extrusion is one of the most commonly used plastic processing methods, enabling rapid and repeatable formation of components with constant cross-sections. At RefPlast, we use this technology to produce a wide range of profiles and seals – both in standard series and customized to meet client requirements.
Plastics Extrusion
Extrusion involves plasticizing granulated material at elevated temperatures and forcing it through a specially designed die. This results in a product with a uniform cross-section, such as a profile, strip, seal, guide, or masking element.
This process is: highly efficient, highly repeatable, and offers great design flexibility even for unusual shapes.
Our own machinery park allows us to offer production in many material variants – from rigid to flexible plastics (including PVC, TPE, ABS, PP).

Extrusion process
At the very beginning, like in other processes, there is a design phase. Engineers prepare drawings and models of profiles with complex cross-sections.
The next step is heating the plastic granulate to the appropriate temperature. This process causes the material to plasticize, combine into a uniform mixture, and enables shaping of the finished products.
When the plastic is pliable, we can add other ingredients that will affect the appearance and functions of the final product. We can add, for example, color pigments to achieve different profile colors.
When the material is plasticized, it is continuously extruded through the forming head. This is the main element in the extrusion process. Then, to give it its final shape, the material is pre-cooled.
The final stage is cooling the profiles with special nozzles, which harden the finished profiles.
The finished product can be cut to size and printed with a production series number. The profiles are ready for further processes, such as welding.
